Other
Attractions
Cornwall
In
this section we are covering attractions which
do not readily fit in to the main categories
but which are interesting and unique in their
own right.
For
those of us who like the occasional drink,
there are three places not to be missed. Camel
Valley Wines produce a range of award winning
wines and you can take a guided tour of the
state-of-the-art winery and vineyards on
weekday afternoons between April and the end
of September. Nestled
in the heart of the Cornish countryside
amongst 16 acres of apple orchards lies the
Cornish Cyder Farm which is open all year
round and offers free entry.
An
interesting attraction in Padstow is The
National Lobster Hatchery. At
the heart of The
National Lobster Hatchery’s
work is a lobster restocking project whereby
fishermen give “pregnant” female lobsters
in and once born,
young lobsters are then raised to a
size where they can be released back into the
sea to look after themselves.
Goonhilly
Satellite Earth Station Experience
attracts over 80,000 visitors every year and
with over 60 Giant Satellite dishes it is the
Largest and Oldest Satellite Station on Earth.
Paul
Corin’s Magical Music Machines near Liskeard
is an absolute must for anyone interested in historic
organs and displays include a
Belgian café organ, 92-key Decap,
84-key Mortier, 1929 Wurlitzer cinema organ
and Welte-Mignon and Ampico reproducing
pianos.

International Wine Challenge. Guided
tours of the winery and vineyards are
available in the afternoons between
April and the end of September, wine
tasting in the early evenings and

The
National Lobster Hatchery
Padstow
|
Situated
on the quay at Pastow, The National
Lobster Hatchery is an important
contributor to the management
of coastal marine resources and in
particular, to the restocking of
lobsters. Local fishermen that have
caught pregnant female lobsters bring
them to the centre and the baby
lobsters are born in captivity without
predators that would decimate the new
offspring. The young lobsters are then
raised to a size where they can be
released back into the sea. Open 7
days a week throughout the year, the
work of the hatchery is on view for
everyone coming to the visitor centre.

Paul
Corin's Magical Music Machines
Liskeard
|
Paul
Corin’s Magnificent Music Machines
is a delightfully eccentric museum
created on the back of one man's love
for music boxes. Located in a peaceful
setting by the Looe Valley Line near
the village St Keyne, Paul Corin’s
Magnificent Music Machines is a unique
exhibition of mechanical organs from
the 19th and early 20th centuries. The
many working exhibits include Belgian
Café Organs, a Mortier 84 key
Orchestrion, a DeCap 92 key Jazz Organ
and a Wurlitzer pipe organ to name but
a few. Whether you want to take a
wonderfully nostalgic trip down memory
lane or find out for the first time
how dance music was made and enjoyed
in the Victorian era, this exhibition
has something for both young and old
to enjoy. There is a lovely picnic
area by the river and dogs on leads
with well behaved owners are welcome !
